ELI Beamlines Facility Director at The Extreme Light Infrastructure

Roman Hvezda currently serves as the Director at the ELI Beamlines Facility, which is part of the Extreme Light Infrastructure ERIC. He has previously held key positions includingDirector of the ELI Beamlines Division and as the Deputy Director at the Institute of Physics, with a focus on the ELI and HiLASE laser projects.

With a diverse educational background, Roman received his training in engineering and economics across three countries: Czechia (at the Czech Technical University), Germany (at RWTH Aachen), and Japan (through the Young Leader Program at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies). His professional journey has taken him to Germany, Switzerland, and Czechia, where he contributed to various technology companies.

From 2006 to 2010, Roman participated in shaping research and educational policy at the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and leading large transformation projects. His career is marked by extensive experience in leadership and advisory capacities, particularly in research and development projects.

Roman's professional interests are deeply rooted in fostering collaboration between research institutions and the private sector, emphasizing knowledge and technology transfer, as well as managing large-scale research organizations effectively. He became a part of the ELI Beamlines project in 2010, where he continues to apply his expertise and vision.
